On the effective peek application for customized cranio-maxillofacial prostheses: An experimental formability analysis

چکیده

Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF) is a dieless and flexible forming technology that allows performing complex shapes presents high economic payoff for low production series. In this context, research an experimental investigation of Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) sheets deformed by SPIF at room temperature, determining the influence process parameters on material formability. The performed in terms principal strains are evaluated within Limit Diagram (FLD) obtained means Nakajima tests allowing to establish limits PEEK sheet material. On other hand, results gave rise analysis formability, modes failure, force, geometry accuracy. These experiments allow assessing optimal methodologies/procedures manufacturing cranio-maxillofacial prostheses. sense, it was global study formability manufactured prostheses, as well shape accuracy, temperature roughness analysis, among others. This showed maximum attainable two prostheses were still found far away from Fracture (FFL) material, showing feasibility obtain extra safe zone. conclusion, work proved potential biomedical field using Sheet (ISF) processes combination with advanced biocompatible polymers such PEEK.
